As the Mercury dips

I can only think of one thing when the temps hit and stay lower than -20 F... snow biking.
Or, maybe 'ice biking' at those temps! It's been at least 25 below for three days now, hitting -35 at my cabin, day and night, and even colder in nearby areas, as pictured below. It's really not all that bad, although vehicles tend to think so!

And speaking of warm clothing (in the last post), it's really surprising how little clothing can keep you warm when biking in the snow. I went for a ride at -34 F, wearing a baselayer shirt and very lightly insulated pullover, and I was plenty warm.

Here's my buddy, JR riding his new fat bike at -42 F. He may look cold, but he was actually sweating!
