Bottoming Out

While most people in the L48 are just now getting winter conditions, we are experiencing a meteorological natural disaster in Interior & Northern Alaska: many places are completely void of snow, while the rest of the area has just enough to sufficiently cover the ground. Winter trails barely exist, with tussocks, dirt, and rock patches more prevalent than snow in places.
Oh yeah, the temps couldn't care less and we have the worst air quality in the entire U.S. Anywhere from 2-10 times as bad as the worst in L48.

  1. I feel bad but yesterday temps here in Tampa hit 76 with clear sunny skies. Sorry, had to say it!

  2. HAs it got any better? Funny coinsidence: It's about the same in Finland: Most parts of Northern Finland have very little snow (especially the ones often having the most) but we had temps below -30C and the most snowy place in Finland is in the Southern most parts with milds temps and more snow coming...

    1. It has, but not for long. The whole state warmed up over the holidays (Fairbanks is at a balmy 10 above tonight). Anchorage was in the midst of a meltdown with 45 degree temps for a few days, nuking their already dismal snow pack. Far cry from last year.
